Excel to SHAREPOINT Connection string to include versioning

Hello,

I have an excel macro which connects to a sharepoint list and extracts data. The Sharepoint has a column which uses multiple lines of text with append changes to existing data set to true. Whenever I run my code, it only extracts the current value of the column. I've read somewhere that I would need to set includeversions=true but I tried adding it to the connection string and didnt see any improvement. Would like to get your expertise on this, please.
